Q: During one of our practices our 3rd graders built a bridge where the shaped pasta pieces used to elevate the long pasta extended slightly higher than the long pasta. Is this okay? That is to say, we understand that the long pasta spanning the gap must be 2.5 cm high, but is it okay if parts of the small shaped pasta supporting it at the ends slightly extend above the long pasta?
A: Absolutely! This is fine but make sure your students understand that our measurement will take place at the highest point along the long pasta span even if the shaped pasta is a bit higher.
